Is there such a thing as a healthy food?

Postby ayesha » Tue Jan 05, 2010 4:50 am

I've just been told Chicken Noodle Soup is not a good breakfast choice. SOUP is not healthy! Too much sodium! I'm so sick of hearing about how certain foods are junk and then even when something is supposed to be healthy, like orange juice for example, they turn around and say that's bad too!

Soup is fine, maybe not a good choice for breakfast, but fine. Everything has a quality which can be considered "unhealthy", but for the most part, try to eat naturally occurring things. As long as you stay away from the processed junk you'll b fine

It depends though...freshly squeezed orange juice is perfectly healthy, but store-bought juices can have lots of calories from the added sugar. It's pretty much the same deal with soups, depending on whether or not they are store-bought; store-bought could have added fats and such. There ARE healthy soups. Like miso soup.
Also, there are plenty of healthy breakfast choices out there; fruits, whole-wheat toast, omelettes, oatmeal etc.

There is a low sodium alternative usually.

Yes, eat what you want. I don't think there are many foods that dont have at least one thing that isn't good for you...in excess. Orange juice, for instance, has a bit of sugar in it. But who cares? It's better than a soda...and think of all the good stuff that is in it.

Hi Ayesha,

There are a lot of false information in the internet as well as other sources of media. To give you a tip, everything is good but what is important is that you have to make sure that it is well-balanced. what i meant is that if you are eating food such as chicken noodle soup in the morning, you can eat some bread along with it to balance out the saltiness of the soup. bread can neutralize the sodium content of your soup. if you don't like bread then you can eat something that is bland in taste or sweet but not too sweet.

We must have balance in everything that we eat. Balance between the proteins, vitamins and essential minerals. in my case, i do eat raw foods. i make sure that what i am eating do have the full and complete essentials that my body would require for it to work and function optimally. maybe you can do research about eating raw foods or going into raw food diet. this will surely help you.
