Is strawberry jam a low fat food?

Postby sCharLes » Tue Jan 05, 2010 5:02 am

I know it is made with a tonne of sugar but the label does not say it contains fat. I am asking so I can put it on my list of allowed or not foods when I start taking Alli. Can anyone list a few normal foods that are low fat that don't cause treatment effects? I ask about the jam because i'd add it to toast just for the flavour. I can easily give up butter or fatty spreads but I do like my jam!

Strawberry jam has no fat in it.

You should get a list of acceptable foods with the Alli system, but you could also go to their web site and look around there, I'm sure.

Obvious no fat foods would be fruits and vegetables.

If you don't have to avoid carbs, I would look for low fat snack crackers just for those moments when you need a pick me up.

Low fat granola products. I love low fat granola cereal...I think it's made by Post or Quaker Oats (green and white box), but don't have a box of it right now to tell you. :)

Low fat yogurt. This can also be used as a dip for fruits, and some people I know mix it with low fat cream cheese (which is another one of course) for a spread for bagels, toast, and things like that.

Sliced turkey (lunch meat). Actually, almost all lunch meats have a low fat version...just check the packages to make sure. Turkey is usually naturally lower in fat, but some of the processing can add it...if you get kinds that have certain flavorings (such as honey smoked, etc).

Yes, it's low fat and has no oils. BUT. Because of the high sugar content, your body will convert those sugars into fat.

Most of the strawberries are full of fat, even if this is not written anywhere. I prefer Honey instant of strawberries, it's better and has no so many fat.

There may not be fat in jam, but there's loads of sugar. Be careful eating too much of anything. However, fresh strawberries are one of the lowest calorie fruits out there--no added sugar, just naturally sweet.

Hi guys,

I just want to share my thoughts and ideas about strawberry jam.

we all know that fruits are good for the health but what concerns us is the sugar that comprises the jam. strawberry jam do have sugar coming from its natural sweetness. furthermore, when you say jam for sandwiches then it is sweet where sugar is added during the process of making the strawberry jam. we are familiar that sugar is the source of energy in the body and we really need it. however, eating too much or incorporating too much sugar is not good. the excess sugar will be turned into fat in which the body will store it for future use. aside from that, diabetes will hit you. it would then be a big problem for you. Diabetes are known to be "silent killer".

You can eat some strawberry jam but in moderation or limit it. Try to have other sandwich spread that you prefer not just purely strawberry jam every breakfast or during you snack time.

Strawberry is a nutritional fruits,Strawberry does contain some amounts of sugar in it, which might not be advisable to people with diabetes, but it can be surely enjoyed by small children as they have got many nutritional values in it which make them a valuable fruit.
