I think it depends on your health. It's good to consult with your doctor first before getting into some exercise regimen and sacrifice your health even more when you shouldn't be doing some difficult exercises.

I think the best and basic way to exercise for any age is to do some stretching and walking. Taking more of fruits and vegetables and drinking more water everyday, as this may help you detoxify your body (for the young and not so young). :)

However, for those who are over the golden years and you are not used to going through heavy exercises, you must see to it that you have an approval from your doctor before engaging into exercises.

As for young adults like 16 or younger, you can start living healthy by eating healthy and enjoy your teen years, when you get to reach around 20's, then you can start building up muscles and toning them. :) Just to be safe.

After the age of 30, bone and muscle mass start a natural decline. This reduction in body strength continues until we die, but weight-bearing exercise can significantly slow this process. By following a program of exercise aimed at the muscles and bones, they will stay strong for many years to come.

I don't think that age is the barrier in case of weight loss. Anybody can lose the weight. Exercise is the best way to lose weight. Exercise is the thing which anyone can do it.
